Gwynn O’Gara is a poet and writer living in Northern California. Her books include Snake Woman Poems and the chapbooks Fixer-Upper, Winter at Green Haven, Fruit of Life, and Sea Cradles.

For over 25 years Gwynn worked as a California Poet in the Schools in San Francisco and Sonoma County, helping students of all ages and backgrounds express themselves through words.

She also served as Poet Laureate of Sonoma County from 2010 to 2012, meeting and encouraging fellow-citizens in the pursuit of poetry.

As well as performing her own work, Gwynn enjoys reciting poems of the ecstatic tradition with Rumi’s Caravan, a group of travelling poets and musicians.

“Ever since I learned to stand on my head in a gym class in Mexico City when I was 15, I’ve turned to the eight limbs of yoga—as I have turned to poetry for truth and beauty—for guidance, transformation, and grace.”

Poetry is where body and breath meet the infinite.
